G. Damon Wells studies why capable leaders produce different results across roles. He is an Army colonel, former brigade commander, West Point faculty member, and author of six books on leadership and organizational systems. His 31-year Army career began as an enlisted field artilleryman and included command at battery, battalion, and brigade level, deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and senior work inside large, complex headquarters. He holds a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's degree in kinesiology, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the Army War College. Damon founded Summary Leadership and created the P×E Executive Leadership System, which examines the interaction between a leader's traits and the threat, stability, and constraints of the role. His work gives executives, managers, and teams a practical way to distinguish a capability problem from a context problem before the friction becomes expensive.
