Evidence & Methods

Know what the profile measures before deciding what the score means.

Assessment loses value when a polished report hides the measurement. P×E keeps the leader and environment separate before interpreting the fit between them.

The measurement chain

Four questions. Four different kinds of evidence.

The established personality measure comes first. STEP, Alignment, and ADAPT are P×E methods under active development. The distinction matters because a commercial model should never claim more certainty than its evidence can carry.

01Established research base

Athlete

The free profile estimates 12 work-relevant facets from the Five-Factor Model. The Executive Fit Review uses a deeper item set drawn from the public-domain International Personality Item Pool. The scores describe tendencies. Capability and future performance require separate evidence.

02P×E measure in development

Arena

The STEP Scan asks how people experience threat and stability in the same operation. The executive and selected colleagues rate the environment separately. Their disagreement stays visible because it may reveal the operating problem.

03P×E interpretation in development

Alignment

The Alignment Map compares the leader’s measured tendencies with the demands attributed to the current arena. The result is a developmental hypothesis about fit. Predicting executive performance would require validation for that specific use.

04Observed over 90 days

Adaptation

The debrief selects one bounded change in the leader or the work. A later review checks whether the expected evidence moved. The intervention is retained, revised, or stopped based on what happened.

Why multiple ratings matter

The disagreement may be the most useful score on the page.

Executive ratingLow stability

“Priorities change without warning.”

Team ratingStable system

“The rules are clear. The leader keeps changing them.”

Averaging those answers would erase the diagnosis. P×E keeps both views visible and asks what produced the gap.

Current limits

P×E is a developmental decision aid.

Use the results to form and test hypotheses about leader-role fit. Clinical use and high-stakes personnel decisions fall outside the profile’s intended purpose.

The Next-Role Fit Review adds role analysis, interviews, and current performance evidence. A personality profile by itself does not establish readiness for promotion.

The commercial cases completed during development are treated as product work. Any future academic study will require separate review, consent, and research controls.
